The plea team is based out of the Psychology & Law Team in Dr. Valerie Reyna's Laboratory for Rational Decision Making at Cornell. We are investigating cognitive bases (particularly those associated with Fuzzy Trace Theory) for plea bargaining decisions. We are currently investigating what offenders say drove their decisions, as well as the role of attorneys in the plea bargaining process.
Vinny Calderon is majoring in Industrial and Labor Relations with minors in Law & Society and Business. Vinny has been involved with the Laboratory for Rational Decision Making for four years. He is particularly interested in the overlooked reasonings behind why people tke plea bargains. After graduating, Vinny plans on working for a few years before attending law school.
Alex Tsalikis is majoring in Human Development. Alex studies the effects of Autism and Psychopathy on risky decision making. Alex is interested in human rights law and plans to attend law school.
Kaley is a double major in Sociology and Economics with a minors in Law & Society, Inequality Studies, and Information Science. Kaley is interested in understanding how upbringing and social environment influence decision making. In the future, Kaley plans on attending law school.
